Customers want to find the right product fast so filtering is definitely a tool that would help with that.
There is already an existing add-on called "Attribute Manager" that allows users to define different attributes, assign those attributes to products and then specify values for those attributes for the products within that groups.
Ideally we would need a CMS plugin that when browsing to a web category, it allows the user to filter based on those attributes, if any have been configured. The results are then dynamically adjusted based on the items selected.
it is the sort of functionality most ecommerce sites have nowadays and customers expect.
I have personally had to implement filtering for 4 different project so far as a bespoke solution that takes quite a lot of time to implement.
Thank you for your feedback, this is a feature we'd like to implement however there would be a significant amount of work required by the customer to setup this information. This feature in combination with the Distribution Centre would make it a great solution.
Hello, is this something that you are looking to introduce?
This has become a standard expectation for ecommerce sites.
This should 100% all be managed in the Product Manager, not the CRM.

Build a "product characteristics" tree, laid out in the same manner as the memberships categories interface) within the CMS or CRM, allowing customers to build their filter options. Then Display this tree in a new section beneath produt specification box in the product manager, allow customers to easily tick which filter attributes they want to apply to each product item; Then build a product filter plugin on the search page that narrows the results based on the web user selections and the products matching said selections.
I think it wouldn't be a lot more configuration for the client; would it be possible to have an xtra table of attributes that they can set up and then in the product manager have a field that allows them to check multiple attributes that applies to each product? This can be found on the WooCommerce plugin for WordPress.
I've had a client (Grestec) ask for this specific functionality which is going to result in bespoke functionality again.
Having this as standard would also solve a much wider issue for our ecommerce websites that have a large amount of products that are quite similar but with slightly different attributes. The result of this for many of our clients is that their category tree is sometimes 4 or 5 levels deep with only a few products in them (see attached file). This is not only difficult for our client to manage but it makes for a frustrating user experience for the end user, which is probably going to result in lower conversion rates which is obviously bad for everyone.
Aside from this, as Cristina said, most ecommerce websites have this functionality and as a end-user I expect it from every website when I'm buying something online.
This feature would most certainly make our clients happier and free up time for implementing cooler features during projects.
I'd kindly request if you could review the status of this idea as it is now almost 12 months old, thanks :)
