Using Additional Email for a contact when Main Email is blank

Currently if you send an email from within the system we add the email against the contact to the to box. Currently if the email box is blank it leaves the to box blank. I think we should log an idea that if the main email is blank it then goes and grabs the first additional email.

    Hi Andrew thats great, but the main issue is that even if you remove the primary email address and just use the alternative, when you goto create a oppertunity then a quote and do send to email, this additional email still doesn't appear in the To box, Ideally we need a way of being able to switch between email address in the To box, with which ever is against the contact when using send to email

    We've been working on this area over the last few versions. You may not have even noticed the changes, but...
    a) On the details page, where you enter the primary email, there's now a little + button to make it a little easier, and more obvious, how to add more or alternate email addresses
    b) On the "communications" summary (right hand side of the main detail page) there is an email button to make it quick and easy to send a contact an email. This summary exists on opportunity, problem, quote and draft order pages too. That's been there a while, but not, there's a little drop down next to the email link which gives instant access to any additional or alternate email addresses
    c) And, if the contact doesnt have a main email address, just an alternate email address (perhaps because they share a group email like "sales@..." with other contacts), then when the main email is blank, this communications summary helpfully offers the first of the alternate email addresses.
    d) And, we've also done the same with the phone number (drop down with access to the various phone numbers rather than only offering the primary phone number as it used to do.

    I am not sure on this. Could it be that the second email linked to the contact is nothing to do with the business that we are working on? For example, if the contact is a secretary and the second email for that person is associated with another company - is there the potential to send info to that email address that is not intended for them? I think this is to be used with high caution and so not sure this should be default behaviour. Surely better to make sure that the main email address IS correct?
