The logic and functionality around recalculating pricing on a quote is inconsistent and confusing, especially when compared with changing parents versus copying/importing quote lines.
We could remove any automatic recalculation of quote values when changing the parent, or when copying quotes, in order to preserve the quote exactly as it began, and then any lines that do need to be recalculated can be updated via the "bulk action" functionality, allowing you to exclude lines that you wish to preserve the original values.
If we do this, we should also make it easier to get to this feature - perhaps with a specific menu option for "recalculate prices" rather than the user having to find this via "bulk actions"
Yes thank you, that will be ideal because its really frustrating when you change the parent then you also need to fix the prices. Imagine if you have 20 line items.
It is very frustrating when moving a quote/order to a different parent and it loses the $$$ amount.
I have also noticed that if you duplicate a quote/order or do a new one that is 'based on', that it will sometimes change the prices as well, especially if they are an item where the $$$ value has to be manually added - eg: any Misc item, Bank charges etc.
Anything moved or duplicated should keep the original information and if anything needs changing then that can be done by the user once it has been moved, rather than it being done automatically in the background by Prospect.
