Currently the telephone number field in the CRM is a text fiel. It has been suggested that a specific configurable format be implemented for better reporting, easyer understanding etc of telephone numbers. So a specific format such as:
XXXXX XXXXXX
Is used when adding in numbers
Definitely agree with this one, could i also add that it may be necessary to add a secondary text box next to the phone number box for extension numbers however. We have resorted to adding an "x" followed by the extension but would make more sense if this was kept separate as it sometimes confuses our phone system as it doesn't recognise the string of text as a number.
