It may only seem to be a small thing, but as we're all in the business of producing quotations, we should get it right in the systems we use...
"Quote" is not an abbreviation for "Quotation".
Therefore, the tab on the left should be "Quotations"; we should be dealing in "Quotation IDs" and "Quote Created" is nonsensical ("Date Quoted" would be correct, as would "Quotation Date".
These are just a few examples, but if all instances throughout the product could be corrected at template level, it would be a significant improvement.
Hi Tim, not really sure what to say about this request. According to the Oxford English dictionary, "Quote" is (amongst other things) a noun with the meaning:
1. a quotation from a text or speech. e.g. "a quote from Wordsworth"
2. a quotation giving the estimated cost for a particular job or service. e.g. "quotes from different insurance companies"
The Cambridge dictionary also says Quote is a valid noun (for price quoted) as well as a verb.
And so by extension, "Quote Created" is just as valid "Quotation Created" or indeed "Contact Created" or "Document Created".
Overall it's a well accepted term amongst our users, and its often useful to use the word "Quote" as it is shorter and less verbally cumbersome than "Quotation".
