On our opportunity/problem etc screens, the pipeline flow graphic (the thing at the top that shows you where you are on the pipeline) is at the top, and is in the same place, with the same information on every page.
This is useful, but it's positioning isnt entirely UI logical. if it is fixed and the same on every page, it should probably be "outside the page". i.e. it should be part of the header/banner bar. But, i also think the header bar should be pretty consistent between all records and not vary in height depending on the record type - that would be bad too.
In this video i contrast our UI for this with a screenshot of Microsoft Dynamic's equivalent. In their app, they have this pipeline info in a separate sub-header-banner. This has a different coloour (grey) so that the white main header can be consistent across all windows, and you just get an extra sub-banner when its appropriate.

I also actually like their styling with the circles and the tickboxes in circles. This makes it super clear that you've gone past the ticked ones, and are currently working on the current one - clarifying that the stages are "present tense" stages - i..e working on developing the opportunity, not "opportunity developed".
It also looks like they have little scroll buttons to see the stages that dont fit. I actually dont like this, i prefer our responsive way of shrinking the bar. But, i think we could definitely adopt the circles, the progress bar and the way they have joined a sub-header to the main header. It looks much better i think.
