Sometimes there is two contacts of the same person, which means looking through the activity feed becomes tricky (easy to miss important info if entered under two different contacts who are the same).

Similarly there can be two companies which are duplicates of each other.
In the latest release of the CRM there is now a feature to help you merge records. On the Company or Contact (or Opportunity etc) there's a new menu option that allows you to merge two duplicate versions of the same company/contact etc.
Absolutely agree. This was a feature used almost daily when I used Salesforce and it's a shame Prospect doesn'#t have anything similar.
This is more than beneficial - this is part of a minimum feature set for a CRM. We have several channels for data, and it's guaranteed that there will be duplicates.
