This could maybe be a good exercise for the new / returning placements.
PART I
Create a new replacement for the my portal that is more like:
https://www.office.com/?auth=2&home=1
or
https://account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com/r#/applications
We could add to this some setup tasks, welcome videos etc if required, later on.
but basically make this the first step of replacing and getting rid of the MY portal.
(i.e. massively reduce the amount of stuff on this site, but still have a "landing/Welcome" page that the STS can send people to when they first sign up or first get added as a user, and when we don't know if their product preference is CRM, CMS, product manager etc - as a later enhancement, on this screen, let people choose to be forwarded to a specific app each time they login instead of the welcome screen).
Don't try and add any dashboards to this app, or any tasks, the only thing we might consider, just to flesh out the content, and because it fits with the theme of this welcome page is a list of recent records - but not lots of other stuff, and not tasks as that is always available from the menu bar.
In the main platform menu bar that we have, there are a few bits we need to change:
a) the "tasks" link should take you to a tasks list in the CRM (obviously when you are in the CRM it can just drop down like it does) this will replace the https://my.prospect365.com/Tasks.aspx page
b) remove "Settings" from the user drop down in the platform bar (these settings at https://my.prospect365.com/Settings/ are all about setting up the my portal so are all obsolete and can all just be got rid of
c) that leaves two things that we still need from the old my portal - account settings ( https://my.prospect365.com/Settings/Account.aspx page that links to change password and upload my image) and PAT's ( https://my.prospect365.com/Settings/PersonalAccessTokens.aspx page). Either keep these as they are (removing the rest of the my portal stuff, and leaving just these two pages), or perhaps move them to the Admin portal (if we can create a small section for personal settings that is accessible to everyone who doesnt have admin rights) or to a new minimalist settings site (i.e. part II below)
PART II
We will need somewhere to put the About me options & PAT tokens (ie the only things that people use on the my portal, but I think this is best done as separate mini site for "settings.prospect365.com" - like https://portal.office.com/account/ - which would again be a nice simple site for placements or returners to build.
For now we can keep this really simple and just do user settings, but worth setting up the menu the right was so that we can later expand upon it in the right direction. Ultimately this site would have a menu supporting 3 levels of settings (see the two attached screenshots for Aha - where i think they have done this pretty well):
1. Personal Settings (this)
2. Account Settings (could become a replacement for Admin Menu - but for now create a page just describing and linking you to Admin.prospect365.com)
3. App Settings (which is a page that links to the settings page for each of our apps like CRM App Settings, CMS App Settings, Product Manager Settings - i.e. for CRM settings you would actually be redirected to the settings page in the CRM application that links you to all the lookup lists etc.)
Part III
Create a simple settings page in the CRM. This would be navigated via a cog icon in the left hand menu of the CRM (ideally floated to the bottom)
This will again start off really simple with:
a) A "Settings" page - giving you the most commonly required options from the System Options - but nicely laid out - so that users dont need the desktop - like the settings page in Unleashed
b) a "Configuration" page - giving URL links to each of the config tabs
c) a "More" page - giving you a link to personal settings (Part II above), and a link to Accounts Settings and general Account Admin (being the Admin Portal)
